Osimhen Returns as Galatasaray Suffer Heavy Defeat to Barcelona

By Irikhefe Oghenetega Victor

Galatasaray suffered a disappointing 4-1 defeat to Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night, with Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen unable to find the net on his first start since returning from injury.

The Turkish champions made a promising start in front of their home supporters, taking the lead through Aleksey Batrakov. However, Barcelona fought back and eventually turned the contest into a convincing victory.

Galatasaray thought they had doubled their lead when Osimhen was involved in a move that ended with the ball in the net, but the goal was ruled out following a VAR review for offside against Barış Alper Yılmaz. Barcelona capitalised on the reprieve, scoring four times through Joao Cancelo, Fermin Lopez, Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi to complete the comeback.

Speaking after the match, Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk pointed to a loss of concentration and misfortune as key factors behind the defeat. He explained that his players had followed their game plan during the opening stages but gradually retreated too deep, allowing Barcelona to gain control.

Buruk admitted that his team had performed well up to a point, scoring once and having another goal disallowed, before losing their shape towards the end of the first half. His comments highlighted Galatasaray’s inability to maintain their early momentum against Barcelona’s attacking threat.

The defeat leaves Galatasaray without a point after two Champions League league-phase matches, placing them 34th in the standings, while Barcelona sit top of the table with six points from two victories.

Osimhen will now hope to regain his scoring touch and help Galatasaray respond when they face Genclerbirligi in the Turkish league on Saturday.

The Tomorrow trap: why we procrastinate and how to break free

By Irikefe Oghenetega Victor It’s 11 p.m. in Lagos, and that major project due at 9 a.m.  is staring back at you from your laptop screen. Yet somehow, the work hasn’t started. Instead, you’re rearranging your playlist to create the “perfect” study vibe, finally replying to that group chat message from last week, or falling down an unexpected rabbit hole about why ancient Roman aqueducts were such a brilliant engineering feat. The minutes slip by. The clock seems to tick louder. A quiet sense of guilt begins to creep in, but the scrolling continues. For many university students, this cycle is all too familiar , an endless tug-of-war between looming deadlines and the irresistible distractions of the digital world. You're not lazy. You're human. Procrastination isn't a willpower deficit or a time-management glitch, it's an emotional rescue mission gone sideways. Modern psychology, led by researchers like Timothy Pychyl and Fuschia Sirois, frames it clearly: procrastinati...
