Nollywood Veteran Taiwo Hassan ‘Ogogo’ Dies After Cancer Battle

Salu Fatimoh

Veteran Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has died after battling stage-four cancer.

His death was announced on Sunday, August 23, 2026, by his daughter, Kira Taiwo, during an emotional Instagram Live session. Kira was seen crying and appealing to family members for help.

Reports of Ogogo’s health condition first emerged on Monday, August 17, when his daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, took to Instagram to appeal for urgent medical assistance for their father. Lima said his condition had deteriorated and that some hospitals were no longer willing to treat him.

In an emotional video, Lima said the family was “not asking for money” but needed help finding medical professionals and facilities that could treat the actor.

The development came days after the family debunked reports of his death on August 18, with Lima describing the reports as fake and urging the public to disregard them.

However, on Sunday, Kira confirmed her father's death during the Instagram Live session, bringing an end to the veteran actor's battle with the illness.

Taiwo Hassan, 66, was one of the prominent figures in Yoruba Nollywood, with a career spanning several decades as an actor, producer and filmmaker.

The minutes slip by. The clock seems to tick louder. A quiet sense of guilt begins to creep in, but the scrolling continues. For many university students, this cycle is all too familiar , an endless tug-of-war between looming deadlines and the irresistible distractions of the digital world. You're not lazy. You're human. Procrastination isn't a willpower deficit or a time-management glitch, it's an emotional rescue mission gone sideways. Modern psychology, led by researchers like Timothy Pychyl and Fuschia Sirois, frames it clearly: procrastinati...
