NFF Saga: Amun Resigns After Super Falcons Probe

Irikefe Oghenetega Victor

Former Nigeria Football Federation General Secretary Ambassador Fanny Amun has resigned with immediate effect after submitting the fact-finding committee’s report on the Super Falcons’ failure at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and their inability to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Speaking at a press conference at the National Stadium in Lagos, Amun explained that his resignation was a deliberate move to protect the integrity of the report. “I did not want anyone to influence the report before I submitted it to the NFF. That was why I submitted it and resigned,” he said.

According to Amun, the committee was originally given a two-week deadline after its inauguration on 17 August 2026. However, he deliberately completed the assignment in under seven days and stepped down from both the Fact-Finding Committee and the NFF Ethics Committee to prevent any form of post-submission interference.

He further revealed that identical copies of the report were simultaneously sent to FIFA, CAF, the National Sports Commission, and relevant security agencies to ensure it could not be suppressed.

Beyond the resignation, Amun raised serious concerns about financial disparities within the NFF. He alleged that board members regularly received full allowances on foreign trips while players and coaches were shortchanged. The report also highlighted claims of financial influence in player invitations, long-term temporary contracts for secretariat staff, and the use of cash payments for FIFA development programmes, which made proper accountability difficult.

These findings have added weight to ongoing investigations by relevant agencies into the management of football funds in Nigeria. Amun also called for a strict two-term limit for football administrators as part of broader reforms needed to restore credibility to the system.

The Tomorrow trap: why we procrastinate and how to break free

By Irikefe Oghenetega Victor It’s 11 p.m. in Lagos, and that major project due at 9 a.m.  is staring back at you from your laptop screen. Yet somehow, the work hasn’t started. Instead, you’re rearranging your playlist to create the “perfect” study vibe, finally replying to that group chat message from last week, or falling down an unexpected rabbit hole about why ancient Roman aqueducts were such a brilliant engineering feat. The minutes slip by. The clock seems to tick louder. A quiet sense of guilt begins to creep in, but the scrolling continues. For many university students, this cycle is all too familiar , an endless tug-of-war between looming deadlines and the irresistible distractions of the digital world. You're not lazy. You're human. Procrastination isn't a willpower deficit or a time-management glitch, it's an emotional rescue mission gone sideways. Modern psychology, led by researchers like Timothy Pychyl and Fuschia Sirois, frames it clearly: procrastinati...
