By Adewusi Aisha
She is soft,
but not weak.
She laughs loudly with her friends,
but cries quietly
where no one can see.
She says “I’m okay”
like she’s practiced it
like it’s easier
than explaining the weight
she carries in her chest.
She loves deeply,
sometimes too deeply,
giving pieces of herself
to people
who don’t even notice
they’re holding something fragile.
She overthinks.
Oh, she overthinks
every word,
every silence,
every “seen” without reply.
But still,
she wakes up,
fixes her hair,
adjusts her crown
and steps into the world
like nothing ever tried to break her.
Because that’s the thing about her
she bends,
she feels,
she breaks a little…
but she never stays shattered.
She rebuilds herself
in quiet ways,
in small moments,
in late-night thoughts
and early morning strength.
And even on the days
she doubts her own worth
she is still
a woman
becoming
something unstoppable.
