The Lagos State Ministry of Health has formally honoured the Lagos State University of Science and Technology Vice Chancellor Prof. Olumuyiwa Odusanya for his exceptional contributions to ethical standards in health research.
In a letter signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, the state government commended Prof. Odusanya’s dedication and expertise as Chairman of the Lagos State Health Research Ethics Committee. The letter highlighted his consistent commitment to reviewing research protocols and ensuring that all studies in the state strictly adhere to the highest ethical standards while protecting the rights and well-being of research participants.
A Professor of Public and Community Health, Prof. Odusanya has played a key role in transforming Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) into a leading centre of academic excellence and infrastructure development. He has consistently advocated for a shift from basic research to translational research that produces practical, real-world solutions for society.
In addition to his responsibilities as Vice-Chancellor of LASUSTECH, Prof. Odusanya serves as Chairman of the Lagos State Science, Research, and Innovation Council (LASRIC), where he contributes to the state’s wider innovation and research agenda.
This recognition underscores the vital importance of strong ethical oversight in health research and celebrates Prof. Odusanya’s significant efforts in upholding research integrity across Lagos State.
