The Sokoto State Police Command deploys a comprehensive security strategy ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, assuring residents of a peaceful and hitch-free Sallah across sokoto state.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufai, and the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Musa, saying "The Sokoto State Police Command felicitates with Muslim faithfuls and all residents on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr. We have put in place adequate security measures to ensure a peaceful and joyous celebration. To strengthen security, the Commissioner has directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and Tactical Commanders to intensify patrols and scale up intelligence-led operations across the state. Parents and guardians are advised to closely monitor their wards to curb any form of disorderly conduct".
In previous festive periods, security agencies in Sokoto and other parts of the country have recorded spikes in petty crimes and traffic congestion, prompting proactive deployments and advisories to forestall breaches of peace.
The police noted that it is working closely with other security agencies, community leaders, and stakeholders to maintain law and order throughout the celebration,also the police’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, as the state joins millions of Muslims across Nigeria in marking the Sallah festivities peacefully in the northern state.
