The Plateau State Government has imposed a 48-hour curfew on Jos North Local Government Area after a deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba left several people dead and many others injured. The attack happened late Sunday night and caused panic across the area.
In a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Joyce Lohya Ramnap, the government described the incident as a “barbaric and unprovoked attack.” The curfew started from midnight on Sunday and will last until April 1, 2026. Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang said security officers have been deployed to restore peace and asked residents to remain calm and cooperate with authorities.
The incident also affected academic activities at the University of Jos, where exams scheduled for Monday and Tuesday were postponed. School officials advised students and staff to stay safe and report any suspicious movement, while authorities continue investigations into the attack.
