Santos FC forward Neymar Jr has broken his silence after being omitted from Brazil's latest national team squad, admitting the decision left him feeling disappointed and disheartened.
The former Barcelona and PSG star, who has been performing below his best form following a lengthy injury spell, shared an emotional statement reacting to the snub, which was share by Fabrizio Romano on X.
"I'm upset, sad, about not being called up. But the focus remains day after day, training after training, game after game. We're going to achieve our goal. There's still one final call-up left and the dream lives on," Neymar wrote.
The omission stems from the 33-year-old's prolonged injury struggles, which have limited his playing time and dulled his sharpness. Brazil's coaching staff, prioritising fitness and form above reputation, chose players currently performing at their peak rather than risk selecting a forward still working his way back.
