The Nigerian Education Loan Fund has extended the deadline of student loan application for 2025/2026 academic session to enable eligible students gain access to the fund.
In a statement signed by NELFUND 's Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi , the deadline for the closure of application window was shifted only for institutions that requested additional time for students with incomplete registration.
"The Nigerian Education Loan Fund has approved an extension of its Student Loan Application Portal for institutions that have formally requested additional time for the 2025/2026 academic session,” the statement read.
Furthermore, NELFUND solidifies its stance in providing easy access to higher education for students from low income backgrounds. The fund uses this medium to encourage eligible students to apply for the loan which demands refund after education, during the working stage .
Additionally, the non-interest loan fund has recorded 1,164,222 beneficiaries since its inception in April 2024 , disbursing 206.29 billion naira in loans to support students in public tertiary institutions. Overall, NELFUND has shown commitment to removing financial barriers to higher education in Nigeria.
