The Federal Government has declared Thursday, March 19 and Friday, March 20, 2026 as public holidays in celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement issued by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary.
The Minister congratulated Muslim faithful in advance and urged them to uphold the values of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice practiced during the holy month. He also called on all Nigerians to use the holiday period to pray for the peace, unity, and prosperity of Nigeria.
Citizens were further encouraged to celebrate responsibly and extend kindness to those in need, as the government reaffirmed its commitment to national unity and peaceful coexistence.
