Former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the recent bomb attacks in Maiduguri, Borno State. Amaechi spoke after multiple explosions in Maiduguri on Monday night killed at least 23 people and injured over 100 others. The blasts affected places like a market, a hospital area, and a busy part of the city.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Amaechi said the government has failed in its duty to protect Nigerians. He expressed concern that people are still living in fear because of insecurity in the country. He also said the government is not doing enough to stop the violence, adding that Nigerians deserve to feel safe in their own country. According to him, leaders should take stronger action to address the situation.
Amaechi further stated that many families are suffering from the attacks and called on the government to take responsibility and improve security across the country.He also sympathised with the people of Borno State and the families of those who lost their lives in the incident.
