Iwobi Sets to Reach 100 Caps for Super Eagles Against Portugal

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi is on the verge of a major career milestone as he prepares to make his 100th appearance for Nigeria in Wednesday’s international friendly against Portugal.

The Fulham star currently has 99 caps and will become only the fourth Nigerian player in history to reach the century mark if he features in Leiria. He will join an elite group that includes Joseph Yobo, Vincent Enyeama, and Ahmed Musa.

Iwobi made his senior international debut in October 2015 against the Democratic Republic of Congo. Now aged 30, the attacking midfielder has grown into one of Nigeria’s most consistent and dependable performers over the past decade. He has featured in multiple major tournaments, including the 2018 FIFA World Cup and five Africa Cup of Nations campaigns.

The Fulham midfielder has scored 10 international goals for the Super Eagles, with several of them coming in crucial qualifiers. His longevity, creativity, and versatility have made him a vital member of the national team setup under different coaches.

Furthermore, the landmark match is scheduled for Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa in Leiria, Portugal. Reaching 100 caps will further cement Iwobi’s place among the greatest players to represent Nigeria.

Coach Eric Chelle is expected to give Iwobi the opportunity to achieve the milestone, recognising both his service to the country and his current form. This moment marks another proud chapter in the career of one of Nigeria’s most respected modern professionals.

The Tomorrow trap: why we procrastinate and how to break free

By Irikefe Oghenetega Victor It’s 11 p.m. in Lagos, and that major project due at 9 a.m.  is staring back at you from your laptop screen. Yet somehow, the work hasn’t started. Instead, you’re rearranging your playlist to create the “perfect” study vibe, finally replying to that group chat message from last week, or falling down an unexpected rabbit hole about why ancient Roman aqueducts were such a brilliant engineering feat. The minutes slip by. The clock seems to tick louder. A quiet sense of guilt begins to creep in, but the scrolling continues. For many university students, this cycle is all too familiar , an endless tug-of-war between looming deadlines and the irresistible distractions of the digital world. You're not lazy. You're human. Procrastination isn't a willpower deficit or a time-management glitch, it's an emotional rescue mission gone sideways. Modern psychology, led by researchers like Timothy Pychyl and Fuschia Sirois, frames it clearly: procrastinati...
