Ex-Minister Adelabu’s Sister, Twin Sons Rescued from Kidnappers

The Nigeria Police Force has successfully rescued Mrs. Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, sister of former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, and her 12-year-old twin sons after they were held captive for 84 hours. The victims regained their freedom on Saturday evening following a coordinated operation by the Force Intelligence Department Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT).

According to a senior police source in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, the rescue operation took place at approximately 7:30 p.m. which involved a gun battle with the abductors. Two suspected kidnappers were fatally wounded during the exchange, and two rifles were recovered from them. The hostages were rescued unharmed and are now receiving medical care and support, while a manhunt is underway for other gang members who escaped with gunshot injuries.

The abduction occurred on Wednesday morning in the Elewura-Challenge area of Ibadan South West Local Government Area. Mrs. John-Paul, who is the biological sister of the former minister, was driving her twin sons to school when armed attackers trailed the car from her home. At about 7:30 a.m., the gunmen flagged the vehicle down, smashed the driver's side window, and forcefully took the mother and her 12-year-old boys to an unknown destination.

However, The kidnapping had caused widespread concern in Oyo State, coming weeks after over 40 schoolchildren and teachers were abducted in the Oriire Local Government Area of Ogbomoso. The police have assured the public that operations are ongoing to track and arrest the remaining fleeing members of the syndicate.

By Irikefe Oghenetega Victor It’s 11 p.m. in Lagos, and that major project due at 9 a.m.  is staring back at you from your laptop screen. Yet somehow, the work hasn’t started. Instead, you’re rearranging your playlist to create the “perfect” study vibe, finally replying to that group chat message from last week, or falling down an unexpected rabbit hole about why ancient Roman aqueducts were such a brilliant engineering feat. The minutes slip by. The clock seems to tick louder. A quiet sense of guilt begins to creep in, but the scrolling continues. For many university students, this cycle is all too familiar , an endless tug-of-war between looming deadlines and the irresistible distractions of the digital world. You're not lazy. You're human. Procrastination isn't a willpower deficit or a time-management glitch, it's an emotional rescue mission gone sideways. Modern psychology, led by researchers like Timothy Pychyl and Fuschia Sirois, frames it clearly: procrastinati...
