“We Won’t Let Nigerians Down” – Flamingos Coach Busari
Nigeria’s U-17 Women’s National Team coach Akeem Busari has vowed that the Flamingos will not disappoint fans as they begin their quest for a 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup ticket.
The Flamingos face Guinea in the first leg of the second-round qualifier on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire (kick-off 5:00 PM WAT). The second leg is scheduled for May 30 at Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.
Busari, who recently took over the team, declared that qualification to the World Cup in Morocco is the main target.
The Flamingos received a bye into this round as one of Africa’s highest-ranked teams, while Guinea advanced with an impressive 8-2 aggregate victory in the previous round.
The winner of this tie will progress to the final qualifying round in July. Nigeria have qualified for eight of the last nine editions of the tournament and are determined to maintain that strong record.
