Osimhen, Lookman Ruled Out of Poland & Portugal Friendlies

By Irikefe Oghenetega Victor

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has confirmed that star forwards Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman will miss Nigeria’s upcoming international friendlies against Poland and Portugal in June.

The decision comes shortly after Nigeria’s successful Unity Cup campaign, where the team defended their title. Chelle revealed that both players have been granted permission to sit out the matches as part of careful squad management ahead of a busy period.

Osimhen has been given time off to focus on resolving his club future and ongoing transfer negotiations. The Galatasaray striker is currently one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe, and the coaching staff felt it was best to allow him to handle his club matters without the added pressure of international duty.

Lookman, on the other hand, has been excused by both Atlético Madrid and the Super Eagles coaching team to manage workload and recover from fatigue after an intense European season. The CAF Player of the Year played a high number of matches across domestic and continental competitions, and rest has been prioritised to keep him in top condition.

With Osimhen, Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze, Alhassan Yusuf and Tijani Al-Ameen all unavailable, Chelle is expected to place greater responsibility on experienced forwards such as Moses Simon, Paul Onuachu, and Jerome Akor Adams. The Super Eagles will face Poland on June 3 in Warsaw before taking on Portugal on June 10 in Leiria.

The Tomorrow trap: why we procrastinate and how to break free

By Irikefe Oghenetega Victor It’s 11 p.m. in Lagos, and that major project due at 9 a.m.  is staring back at you from your laptop screen. Yet somehow, the work hasn’t started. Instead, you’re rearranging your playlist to create the “perfect” study vibe, finally replying to that group chat message from last week, or falling down an unexpected rabbit hole about why ancient Roman aqueducts were such a brilliant engineering feat. The minutes slip by. The clock seems to tick louder. A quiet sense of guilt begins to creep in, but the scrolling continues. For many university students, this cycle is all too familiar , an endless tug-of-war between looming deadlines and the irresistible distractions of the digital world. You're not lazy. You're human. Procrastination isn't a willpower deficit or a time-management glitch, it's an emotional rescue mission gone sideways. Modern psychology, led by researchers like Timothy Pychyl and Fuschia Sirois, frames it clearly: procrastinati...
