Four African nations have successfully qualified for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup scheduled to take place in Poland from 5 to 27 September 2026.
The qualified teams are Nigeria, Ghana, Benin, and Tanzania. Nigeria and Ghana secured their spots from the WAFU B zone (West Africa Zone B), while Benin and Tanzania earned historic qualifications — both making their debut appearances at the tournament.
Nigeria, with 11 previous appearances since 2002, and Ghana with 7 previous appearances since 2010, are the experienced campaigners from the group. Benin and Tanzania will be making their first-ever appearances at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, marking significant milestones for both countries.
Notably, three of the four African qualifiers (Nigeria, Ghana and Benin) came from the WAFU B zone, further highlighting the growing strength and depth of women’s football in West Africa at the youth level.
The qualification was determined through a rigorous home-and-away knockout system across the continent. Congratulations to all four teams for earning their places through impressive performances on the pitch.
