National Safety Requires Police,Citizens Collaboration - Tinubu

By Adenuga Toheeb Ayoola

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday urged Nigerians to collaborate with the police and other security agencies to effectively tackle insecurity across the country. Speaking at the 2026 National Police Day Grand Parade in Abuja, Tinubu, who was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima,  said national safety could not be achieved by law enforcement alone.

“The safety of a nation cannot be outsourced to uniforms alone. I call on all Nigerians to work closely with the police and other security agencies,” he said. The President warned that mistrust between citizens and law enforcement would worsen insecurity. The road ahead may be long, but this nation is not stranded. So long as duty still answers when distress calls, and so long as we continue to choose reform… Nigeria shall continue to prevail,” he said.

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, said the force must rise above indiscipline and misconduct, warning that accountability would be enforced without exception.
“The Nigeria Police Force must rise. We must rise above indiscipline. We must rise above misconduct. We must rise above every action that diminishes the honour of this uniform,” he said

We will strengthen your capacity. We will equip you properly. Because a respected and professional Police Force must be built on officers who are supported, trained, and treated with dignity,” he said.
National Police Day is celebrated annually on April 7,as it is a day meant to honour the service, sacrifice, and dedication of police officers, including those who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The Tomorrow trap: why we procrastinate and how to break free

By Irikefe Oghenetega Victor It’s 11 p.m. in Lagos, and that major project due at 9 a.m.  is staring back at you from your laptop screen. Yet somehow, the work hasn’t started. Instead, you’re rearranging your playlist to create the “perfect” study vibe, finally replying to that group chat message from last week, or falling down an unexpected rabbit hole about why ancient Roman aqueducts were such a brilliant engineering feat. The minutes slip by. The clock seems to tick louder. A quiet sense of guilt begins to creep in, but the scrolling continues. For many university students, this cycle is all too familiar , an endless tug-of-war between looming deadlines and the irresistible distractions of the digital world. You're not lazy. You're human. Procrastination isn't a willpower deficit or a time-management glitch, it's an emotional rescue mission gone sideways. Modern psychology, led by researchers like Timothy Pychyl and Fuschia Sirois, frames it clearly: procrastinati...
