NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau has declared that the Super Eagles will travel to London as defending champions with the clear intention of retaining the Unity Cup title when the 2026 edition takes place at The Valley, home of Charlton Athletic FC.
The four-nation tournament, scheduled for 26 to 30 May 2026, will feature Nigeria, Jamaica, Zimbabwe and India. It kicks off with a high-stakes African clash between Nigeria and Zimbabwe, while the second semi-final pits Jamaica against India. The winners will meet in the final on 30 May.
Gusau’s confidence stems from Nigeria’s dominant performance in the 2025 edition, which the Super Eagles won convincingly at Brentford. The 2026 tournament marks a return to South London and is expected to build on last year’s success, blending competitive football with vibrant cultural entertainment.
The NFF chief stressed that the Super Eagles will not take any opponent lightly despite their status as favourites. Speaking ahead of the draw, Gusau said the tournament provides the perfect platform for the team to shine.
“The Nigeria Football Federation is pleased with another opportunity to see the Super Eagles compete at the highly exciting and entertaining Unity Cup Tournament,” Gusau stated. “As perennial champions, the Super Eagles will look to retain their title again this summer, even as they will not underrate the other participating teams viz India, Jamaica and Zimbabwe. The tournament promises to be explosive and that is the setting in which the Super Eagles thrive best.
