Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has strongly criticised the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for failing to arrange any friendly matches during the current FIFA Women’s International Match Calendar window, leaving the team without a single game ahead of major tournaments.
With proposed friendlies against Togo and Cape Verde falling through at the last minute, Nigeria will go through this entire international break without playing or even holding a training camp. Ajibade took to social media to voice the team’s frustration, posting: “We are not just preparing for the Women’s African Cup of Nations, we are also fighting for World Cup qualification… so why are we not preparing with the seriousness and intensity this demands… abeg wetin be all this one, for how long?”
The lack of competitive action is raising serious concerns about the Super Falcons’ readiness. Without meaningful match practice against quality opposition, the team risks going into the 2026 WAFCON and the subsequent Women’s FIFA World Cup qualifiers under-prepared.
Ajibade and teammates such as Ashleigh Plumptre and Michelle Alozie have used social media to highlight the issue, sharing memes and statements that point to “zero friendlies confirmed” while rival nations face top opposition.
The situation has left many wondering whether the federation truly values the players’ efforts and futures. With WAFCON and World Cup qualification on the horizon, the Super Falcons are once again heading into a crucial period without the preparation they desperately need a situation Ajibade has described as edging close to outright disrespect.
