The Senegalese Football Federation has vowed to take their fight to the Court of Arbitration for Sport after being stripped of the Africa Cup of Nations title by the Confederation of African Football.
CAF made the ruling on Tuesday, two months after the tournament ended. An appeal board concluded that Senegal had forfeited the final by walking off the pitch in protest over a controversial penalty awarded towards the end of the match.
The Senegal Football Federation rejected the rulings saying " it is iniquitous, unprecedented and unacceptable".
They accused CAF of bringing the game into disrepute across the continent. In a statement posted on X, they confirmed they would pursue the case in the Court of Arbitration for Sports with the shortest delay.
The ruling is unprecedented in African football as no team has previously been stripped of an AFCON title in this manner. With CAS now set to weigh in, the process might take a period of time.
