PDP Moves Toward Unity, Eyes 2027 Elections with Renewed Confidence

By Enakaye Peculiar

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) appears to be turning a new page, as leaders signal renewed commitment to internal unity while preparing for the 2027 general elections. After months of divisions and public disagreements, key party stakeholders met in Abuja to discuss reconciliation and strategies to restore cohesion, sending a message that the party is serious about regaining strength and credibility.

One of the major takeaways from the meeting is the party’s openness to a peace pact. Leaders acknowledged that the ongoing crisis could weaken their chances if not properly addressed. Figures like Kabiru Tanimu Turaki have emphasized dialogue and compromise, stressing that unity is more important now than ever. The message is clear: if the PDP wants to remain relevant, it must first fix its internal issues.

At the same time, the party is trying to reassure Nigerians that it is not losing sight of the bigger picture. With the 2027 general elections already on the horizon, PDP leaders insist they are preparing seriously and will be ready to contest. The Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party has even stepped in by setting up a committee to help resolve disputes and bring aggrieved members back into the fold.

However, not everything is settled yet. Some strong voices within the party, including Nyesom Wike, continue to hold firm positions, showing that the road to unity may not be smooth. Still, the willingness to talk and find common ground is a step in the right direction.

In the end, this moment could define the future of the PDP. If the reconciliation efforts succeed, the party might emerge stronger and more competitive. But if the divisions continue, it could struggle to convince Nigerians that it is truly ready to lead again.

The Tomorrow trap: why we procrastinate and how to break free

By Irikefe Oghenetega Victor It’s 11 p.m. in Lagos, and that major project due at 9 a.m.  is staring back at you from your laptop screen. Yet somehow, the work hasn’t started. Instead, you’re rearranging your playlist to create the “perfect” study vibe, finally replying to that group chat message from last week, or falling down an unexpected rabbit hole about why ancient Roman aqueducts were such a brilliant engineering feat. The minutes slip by. The clock seems to tick louder. A quiet sense of guilt begins to creep in, but the scrolling continues. For many university students, this cycle is all too familiar , an endless tug-of-war between looming deadlines and the irresistible distractions of the digital world. You're not lazy. You're human. Procrastination isn't a willpower deficit or a time-management glitch, it's an emotional rescue mission gone sideways. Modern psychology, led by researchers like Timothy Pychyl and Fuschia Sirois, frames it clearly: procrastinati...
