Liverpool thrashed Galatasaray 4-0 in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie to advance 4-1 on aggregate and book their place in the quarter-finals.
After trailing 1-0 from the first leg in Istanbul, where Galatasaray secured a narrow victory, Arne Slot's side delivered their best to overturn the deficit. The Reds were determined to progress, marking their return to the Champions League quarter-finals and setting up a revenge clash against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), the defending champions who knocked them out in the previous season.
Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, Galatasaray's key forward, sustained a right arm injury in the first half after a challenge and was substituted at halftime. His early exit hampered the visitors, who struggled to contain Liverpool's relentless pressure.
Galatasaray played the match without away fans at Anfield due to a UEFA sanction imposed following crowd disturbances in their previous away fixture against Juventus, further limiting their support in a hostile atmosphere.
The quarter-final clash will test Liverpool's resurgence under Arne Slot, particularly their attacking fluency demonstrated against Galatasaray. A positive result here could boost the Reds' chances of reaching the semi-finals and beyond, restoring confidence amid an up-and-down domestic campaign and positioning them as genuine contenders for European glory.
